Carr to visit Wednesday

It appears that free agent Tennessee cornerback Chris Carr will visit Pittsburgh Wednesday as the Steelers begin looking to add free agent depth after losing Bryant McFadden to Arizona.

Carr, as many frequent visitors to this site know, has been one of the free agents I felt the Steelers would target.

He won't be a starter for them, but he would certainly give them somebody of stepping into the lineup in a pinch, while also doubling as their return man.

© There's been no movement with Joey Galloway to this point. Doesn't mean that he won't eventually sign with the Steelers, but they're being patient.

  1. Great call Dale, you nailed this one...hopefully we can get him to sign and then bring in Galloway. With those 2 locked up it can change the dynamic of the draft some...

  3. Getting these 2 locked up would be a decent offseason. Losing BMac still hurts a little though. It is tough developing them and then seeing them walk when their best years are still ahead of them.

Dale, what's going on, my man. Keep up the great work.

  4. Losing BMac does hurt because he knew our system which probably isn't the easiest to understand, but in my mind I keep thinking about how long it took him to beat out DT. Not saying that he isn't good at what he does but that was always concerning to me. This moves probably allows us to now pursue a CB project type player on day 2 of the draft instead of day 1.

  5. If they can sign him, it gives them options, which is what they always do.
They don't like having to go into a draft HAVING to take a player at a certain position to fill out the starting lineup.
Signing a WR and CB would allow them to draft the BPA in the first two rounds – provided it's an offensive or defensive linemen to put into the rotation – or take a CB if the value is there.
    It's just how they work.

  6. I like versatility in players and this guy seems to have it. One question though, why isn't TN interested in resigning him?

  7. He wants at least the opportunity to start. The Titans aren't offering that.

    Could Orlando Pace bring anything?

  9. Unless there is an injury, I doubt he starts either. Even if he is told there is an "opportunity" on opening day, assuming all are healthy, it will be Taylor and Townsend/Gay.

Well I suppose he'll be starting in the sense he returns the opening kick.

  10. What about Anquan Boldin...do you think we'd have a shot at him? Would he be worth it or does he want too much money?

yeah, the Steelers are going to trade for Anquan Boldin...riiiggght

I didn't see where Bob asked if we would trade for Boldin... He was just asking if we had a chance to pick him up. There is always a chance. Please keep your negative comments off this board.

  13. Yeah I was asking if we should go for Boldin over Galloway. No offense, but I didn't even say the word "Trade" so I don't know what you were reading. And regarding if this is my first year as a fan, I grew up and live in Pittsburg...so what do you think?

  14. No chance on Boldin.
I don't see them going after Orlando Pace, either.
Both will want too much - if you make a move for Boldin, it's with the idea that you give him a new contract.
As for Carr, you offer him the chance to compete for a starting job. Doesn't mean he'll win it, but you offer the chance.
It's not like Gay is established and Townsend is clearly on the downside. I don't think they want Townsend starting because the more he plays, the more likely he is to be injured.

    Boldin is under contract.

Last time i checked you cant sign players that are under contract by another team.

That's why i thought you meant trade, that was the only possibility

    not gonna happen

Please keep your unrealistic posts off this board.

There is NEVER a chance to pick up a player who is under contract by another team. He would have to be cut (Arizona won't do that) or traded for (Steelers won't do that) not to mention Boldin wants a huge contract even though he is already making a lot of money.

So Zekey boy, there is absolutely no chance of this happening except in your fantasies.

"Word is the Cardinals want picks, not players" So Mr. Anonymous you forgot one other way that a deal can be made by another team. Nor did I ever indicate I would want Boldin... Did I?...... Didn't think so. I think he is a fine player, but he would want a bigger contract next year than any of our other W.R.'s. We neeother help at other positions before we consider a W.R. Nice chatting with you mystery man.
    Zekey boy.

  18. Dale,

Is Chris Carr a Steeler yet? Also, who was the star LB that visited the Steelers today as well? Was it Derrick Brooks?
