Pittsburgh-Green Bay inactives
Sweed, Keenan Lewis, Polamalu, Urbik, Kemoeatu, Sunny Harris and Nick Eason are down for the Steelers. Batch is still the No. 3 QB.
John Kuhn is down for the Packers. Ryan Pickett is active but B.J. Raji will start at nose tackle in his place.
Despite the last second win, this is still not a playoff caliber team. The defensive secondary is subpar - at least at the moment. The offense goes backward via penalties and sacks as often as it goes forward. It is still overly dependent on the qb scrambling around to make plays. The play calling is hit and miss. This team needs rebuilt from top to bottom and making the playoffs will delay the inevitable.
Great game by Ben! There's just no quit in the guy. But still, the secondary is weak to helpless without Troy in the lineup. I swear Ty Carter was running with cement shoes when Grant rushed for a 24 yard touchdown. Geez, my grandmother could've wiffed just as badly for half the money.
I'm waiting for Dale's post game thoughts before we talk about that onsides kick.
Otherwise, that game was all Ben. You saw in one quarter the definitive Ben - one play he holds onto the ball too long and hes sacked, another he holds on too long and makes a huge play. The throws to Wallace and Miller on the sidelines were things of beauty too.
When it works, its pretty, when it doesn't..... well we know what that looks like.
Tomlin said the defense wasn't stopping GB, so if the Steelers recovered, they'd be able to run clock and perhaps score. But if GB recovered and scored, there would be enough time left for them to try and score.
The onside kick would have worked except the ball took an odd backward bounce and basically hit Ike Taylor at the 39. There was 99.99% chance the ball was going to hit him regardless what he did.
I knew that is why Tomlin went for the on side kick, he learned that from the Super Bowl and Arizona's go ahead score.....
I dont agree with it, but makes sense our D cant stop squat right now in 4th qtrs, give the Packers the short field, let them score quickly, and then put it our O's hands to try to win the game!!
Patrick, thanks for waiting till Dale expresses his thoughts before you say anything. At least there's a greater chance ( well, greater than zero) that you'll have something intelligent to say. That admisssion is the most intelligent "original" thought you've had since I started to notice you.

Since I noticed you-are you attempting to ask for a date? lol And, I agree if you are going to assume his thoughts are unoriginal or unintelligent I would say let us hear your brilliant & original thoughts first!
I wish we would activate sweed, what is there to lose? Our offense can't play worse.
ReplyDeleteHe was sick all week and didn't practice.
ReplyDeleteJets and Miami lose. I know the Steelers still need a ton of help, but its a start.
ReplyDeleteArians is going down in a blaze of glory. Pass, pass, pass.
ReplyDeleteI don't have the game on here due to the Eagles getting bumped to 4. Is Ben audibling to passes or is this seriously the play calling?

So, how is 46 passes to 19 rushes a balanced offense?
ReplyDeleteI know they were trying to score on their last drive...but it was still very lopsided going into that drive.
also, one of those rushes was Ben running for 7 yards.
