For the first time in a month and a half, strong safety Troy Polamalu participated in practice Wednesday for the Pittsburgh Steelers, albeit in a limited fashion.
Depending on how Polamalu's sprained knee reacts to his participation, he could be available for the Steelers for the remainder of the seaso - however long that may be.
© Ricky Williams, who is nursing a shoulder injury, practiced today for the Dolphins and it appears he will play.
It would be nice to have Polamalu Play Sunday but we still need the Bengals and Pats to win and we really don't deserve the Playoffs
ReplyDeleteAW that's so cool I got the first comment. To bad nobody else got it because I got to it first. Man I sounded like a kindergartner. Hey would ya look at that I got the second comment to. I feel so Special inside.
ReplyDeleteI thought Polamalu liked to "play with media" when it comes to injuries. Whatever happened to him returning for the Packers game. Apparently that knee injury was more severe than you thought?
ReplyDeleteI can't stand this crap about "deserving" the playoffs or when players aren't rooting for other teams to help them. This is competitive sports. You play the hand dealt...if the Steelers get in, they shouldn't be ashamed about it. That's like saying there are "good" losses. No losses are good and and there is no "deserving" of anything in sports. You either win or you lose. All the rest is crap.
ReplyDeleteWell said, John.
ReplyDeleteI agree John...though if we do make it into the playoffs, I'd say we DO deserve it. We deserve it more than any of the other teams that didn't make it.
ReplyDeleteWe'd also deserve it a lot more if we'd won one more game.
Just like we make no excuses for where we are now, I believe we should make no apologies if we get in. (though maybe the Jets should :) )
Happy new year, Dale. Thanks for all the information through the year.
ReplyDeleteDale,
ReplyDeleteIt's been a while since I have made a post. First off, let me say I am Happy to see Troy is recovering...he is clearly one of the best Defensive players in the NFL. Being a Bengal fan, that is hard difficult to say because I HATE PALAMALU, but I would love him if he was on my team. Second, given that the Steelers still have a chance (slim as it may be)to make the post season, I would like to say good luck - I drool at the thought of a 3rd game vs the Steelers this year. Third and Lastly, I wish you and all of your followers (even though most of them have jumped off of the Steeler bandwagon already and won't read this post) A very HAppy and Safe New Year. Oh, also ...GO BENGALS!!!
Sorry, Meant to say I HATE POLAMALU!!!
ReplyDeleteThat's funny Patrick's a Bengal Fan now
ReplyDeleteHappy New Years.
ReplyDeletePolamalu's knee injury was apparently worse than anyone knew - including the team's doctors. It just never healed completely.
I think they were a little gunshy after he returned quickly from the first one and got hurt again.
You mean you don't know more than the doctors? This is an outrage. What kind of blogge...
ReplyDeleteI kid, I kid, we can't blame all our problems on Polamalu being out or Aaron Smith either. The team has been outplayed and outcoached much of the season. Everyone brings their A-game against the Super Bowl champions.
I hope they win in Miami but I'm sure not booking off work for the Super Bowl this year. We don't need an overhaul; upgrade a few positions and we're back in form. We're set for a while at several key positions. I just hope we see the team start playing with some fire and swagger again.
Happy New Year, thanks for the great blog.
Here i am agree with Williams "we still need the Bengals and Pats to win" well said
ReplyDeleteimo, there are 3 reasons why the steelers have successfully avoided complete overhauls (i.e. cleveland browns) since the early 90's. in no particular order.
ReplyDelete1. good coaching to develop skills and play of players and bring them to meet or exceed their expectations.
2. good front office. they do a good job of filling in the holes and also planning for the future at the same time. we don't always agree with their decisions, but they seem to be in playoff contention almost every single year. it's hard to argue with that.
3. ownership. i'm a believer it all starts at the top. leadership, consistency, expectations, knowing how to treat employees are all qualities the rooney's possess (and more) and it shows in the product they put on the field.
we certainly have needs to fill short term and long term on this team to be a super bowl contender. but, i don't think we need to panic. i look forward to a rejuvinated team next year whether we make the playoffs or not this year.
