Jason Worilds

The Jason Worilds pick in the second round was a bit of a surprise, but only because he was a guy who flew under the radar when it came to the team.

Nobody had been talking about this guy.

But Worilds is a solid pass rusher who will play outside linebacker for the Steelers providing depth right away - and perhaps more importantly, solid special teams play.

Perhaps the Steelers had bigger needs, but when you consider that the top backup at outside linebacker is Lawrence Timmons, it kind of makes sense.

It also shows just how badly they blew the Bruce Davis pick a couple of years ago. Had Davis turned out to be a player, they would not have needed to select Worilds.

Yepper, this will go down as one of the worst drafts for the steelers ever!! What in the world are they going to do with 10 players???

Who is going to back up Rashard?? Who is going to cover the WRs for the bengals and ravens??

  4. Taylor and Lewis will do so, heck the QB won't even have time to throw the ball with so many players on his back.

I can't even explain how awful these last 2 picks r!! We have 1 decent corner and outside of ward and wallace nothing at wr. I can live w Worilds but Sanders??? Just pathetic!! He wasn't even relevant at SMU wtf??

How is sanders not relevant when he leads SMU in receiving yards. He is not the world's biggest or strongest but he is fearless and willing to block and make the tough catches over the middle. He is a physical specimen and was one of the fastest and quickest receivers in the draft. Plus he was a four year starter. While I am not a fan of Deion Sanders, he took this kid under his wing and was really impressed with him. For a small school prospect, he has just as good of a shot as Mike Wallace. Any wideout could be a bust, but without Santonio, this kid fills a need and could eventually take over when Hines is done.

It is funny how Troy did nothing his first year and yet people conclude that Keenan Lewis is a bust because he didn't perform last year. I think we have to trust that the Steelers know what they have in these prior year draft picks more than we do or else they would have drafted a cb.

First of all he played for SMu and played against inferior comp. Watch his routes then watch him try to block when they run his way and not blocking someone not looking! Then listen to what u said he hangs w Deion Sanders hmmm look where that got Dez Bryant.

While,I have to admit that I did like that Gerhart who reminded me a bit of Alstot,I think we already have Mendy's backup on our team. Gerhart really would have signaled a return to power running.
People underestimate Isaac Redman. That guy is a stud and he will wow us again in the preseason. If the Steelers actually give him a chance in the regular season this year, he will be our short yardage back and perhaps more. He make Carolina's first team defense look like JV last year. It was not just against scrubs that he performed. Heck, he did it against our own first team defense in practice. Watch his tape from college because if you haven't you may really change your mind about him. On one play he breaks more tackles than there are defenders to get in the endzone. It is like watching super tecmo bowl. The tape is on youtube.

Emanuel Sanders is going to remind a lot of people of Desean Jackson of the Eagles. I don't recall a lot of people raving about Mike Wallace last yeear either but the FO proved a few people wrong. Give the kid a chance.

  14. Gee, I guess he couldn't have been wrong about that, huh?
As for the Deion Sanders stuff, it wasn't so much that Bryant was hanging with Sanders - a lot of players have done that and still do - he lied to the OK State coaching staff about it and then did the same to the NCAA investigators. Then, he had a so-so workout. Then, he came off as aloof in his one-on-one meetings.

I don't think sanders is a fast a jackson, but he'll be a great player for us

Dale, Fair enough on the Deion stuff. I know its hindsight but who would ur WR pick have been?

  17. I don't necessarily know that I would have taken a WR there. Obviously, he was somebody they had looked closely at. They brought him in for a visit and liked what they heard from him and saw of him.
He does have plenty of speed.

    Dale,

I agree i woulda waited til round 4 but why take a project there when there was plenty of wr that can help early. He's Willie Reid Jr to me super raw shit routes but quick.

Worilds will be playing ing the arena league in 2 years. Worst draft ever for the steelers nation. Has Tomlin ever had a good draft? He inherited is talent from Cower.

I would wager Dale's left nut that almost no one commenting on the thread has seen a single down of Jason Worilds' career at Va Tech.

You all have almost no idea what you're talking about.
