Word has it that Ben Roethlisberger's foot isn't nearly as bad as he's playing it up to be, which is why the Steelers released the statement they did regarding the injury.
I'm also told that some defensive players are a bit ticked off at Roethlisberger because they are playing with injuries but are a little fed up with Roethlisberger's theatrics.
© Brett Keisel is active for the Steelers tonight and will start.
Le'Ron McClain is out for Baltimore with his ankle injury. Michael Oher is active.
By the way, Sanders and Brown are both active for the Steelers.
some of its Ben, some of its the attention the media gives it.
ReplyDeleteCasey Hampton breaks something small, no one cares. Hes expected to play through that. If Ben does, then its a different story and we talk about how tough he is to play through it.
The big difference is the cameras don't follow Casey for every nick and bruise, whereas the same can't be said for Ben.
If Ben wouldn't constantly "disclose" these injuries/illnesses in meetings with the networks, most of them would never be known about.
ReplyDelete104-degree temperature. Broken ribs. Broken toes. Sprained shoulder. Concussion. The list goes on and on.
I don't disagree with you there. But at the same time, theres many occasions where Ben gets a little banged up and hes treated like a princess on the sideline and the cameras practially ignore the game to show you Ben. Maybe his treatment is by request and he could not play it up for sure. I definitely think he likes playing the role of "Ben toughed it out" for even the smallest things.
ReplyDeleteBut you can't disagree with me that a big time QB in this league with minor injuries doesn't receive more attention about it than any other player.
I asked before, but you didn't answer. Are you saying that Ben was the direct source for this broken toes story?
ReplyDeleteAnd every report I read on this credits Bouchette with the original story. Not any of the 'networks'.
Are you saying Ben told Bouchette that he has a 'broken 5th metatarsal'? I wouldn't find it hard to believe if Ben was the source of any or all of the previous injury stories. But I do find it hard to believe he would've told Ed '5th metatarsal'.
completely random, I hoped the Steelers would take a flier on Blount this year. Man I wish they had. I love that guy's style.
ReplyDeletebusted nose, that's not hitting the QB in the head.
ReplyDeleteHope Ben doesn't mention this to "networks".
ReplyDeletereally, why do the ravens even try to run. just drop back and pass the ball 50 times and they will score 21+ points.
ReplyDeletealso, how can the refs not call a personal foul on that xtra point attempt when that one raven (don't know who) came in an drille a steeler? joke.
ryan clark might be cooked
ReplyDeleteOur WR's are pathetic. they cannot get open to save their lives. Game over
ReplyDeleteOur WR's are pathetic. they cannot get open to save their lives. Game over
ReplyDeleteI agree #7 is a drama queen, but playing with that nose all fubar'd is pretty courageous.
ReplyDeleteI do find it hilarious that the Steelers told NBC that the nose wasn't broken, just a bloody nose. More tedious lies from the drama queen QB embellishing injuries.
ReplyDeleteI know Ben used to wear a glove on his throwing hand, but I haven't seen him do that for a couple years until tonight.
ReplyDeleteif tomlin doesn't rip into the nfl after this game it will be a dis-service to his players. and that goes for the rooneys as well.
ReplyDeleteCouple thoughts... BR needs to improve the speed of his check down reads. Until he does this, teams will continue to try and keep him in a traditional pocket.
ReplyDeleteSanders was not touched after he made that catch off BR's scramble. He could have gotten up and run in for the TD. I think Brown realized that and tried to get him up.
WHAT A GAME! STEELERS OVERCOME!
ReplyDeletewhat a game is right, and I really thought in terms of game planning and 2nd half adjustments (even on O) it was well done.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing I have to complain about is the really dumb penalties. Keenan Lewis running 30 yards out of bounds and Trai Essex not knowing how to line up are two poor hightlights. Those are becoming weekly occurences and it just has to stop.
Come on Patrick. Stop with all the analyzing and enjoy the ride. You have no affiliation with the Steelers except you are a fan like the rest of us (maybe?).
ReplyDeletePhenomenal! Big ups to Redzone Redman. The boy runs with all HEART.
ReplyDeleteFirst, I dont think Ben disclosed his injury, I think the fact that he was wearing a protective boot was the clue that gave it away.
ReplyDeleteNow to the game:
I liked:
Ben, Suisham, Redman, Troy, Harrison and Woodley
I'm annoyed with:
Rashard "Alligator Arms" Mendenhall, Bryant McFadden, Keenan Lewis, Daniel "porcelain" Sepulveda and the ref that missed the hit on Heath Miller.
I thought the hit that broke BR's nose was not intentional, but hits to the qbs heads have been called all year. Most recently Trent Coles got a 15 yd penalty for brushing the back of Peyton Manning's helmet as he was trying to hit the ball.
ReplyDeleteApparently Ray Anderson said today that if a receiver ducks and the defender hits him in the head, it's not a penalty. I guess that was the ruling on the hit on Miller. Laughed at the shot of Harrison on the bench probably telling his teammates if that had been him, he'd have gotten flagged.
What happened to Sepulveda? I missed the play.
sepulveda had some kind of injury to his (insert part of female anatomy here)
ReplyDelete"Redzone" missed on a couple of first downs, but that was just designed to lull the defense into a false sense of security so that he could decimate them with a fourth quarter back breaker for the go ahead score. Well Done and true to the name "Redzone". He also had a good first down pass reception early in the game and some good blocks.
ReplyDeleteMrs. Isaac Redman
Trading up in the draft to get a punter. Sigh. Where's Mitch Berger. He's a Super Bowl-winning punter.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, GREAT WIN!!! The defense was great. Or great except for around the usual amount of McFadden / Gay school-ings. Thanks, Troy!
McFadden was the guy who took Boldin away on the 4th and 2 when that was the guy Flacco wanted to pass to and then hopped the pass to Dickson.
ReplyDeleteSepulveda has a torn ACL and is likely done for the season.
ReplyDeleteI apologize for my joke then. I thought it was something less.
ReplyDeleteIs that the 3rd time he has torn that? He might be damaged goods.
Dale, can you punt?
David Johnson's performance tonight shouldn't be overlooked. He made some clutch plays.
ReplyDeleteI also just read 9 has torn right acl. And I also think that is the 3rd tear in that leg. Let's hope its not Mitch Berger or Paul Ernster this time as his replacement.
ReplyDeletethe nfl brass should take note. hell of a game and not many points scored.
ReplyDeleteoline is beyond terrible, offense as a whole isn't consistent at all
two head shots to ben, one to heath...no penalties ??
great effort by redman, ben may be a drama queen, but that was a gutsy effort tonight. he can't do the little things, but he knows how to get it done in crunch time.
i thought it kind of funny in the post game interview he almost seemed afraid of jh
i dont think i'll ever foget Chris Kemoeatu running with the ball.
ReplyDeleteGo Redman!!
Amazing how Jim Wexell's errand boy here always has the scoop even when Ben hasn't said a word to the media regarding his foot prior to the PG's story.
ReplyDeleteThat taped foot wasn't normal.
