According to published reports, California defensive lineman Cameron Jordan is among the players scheduled to visit the Steelers.
The 6-4, 287-pound Jordan is a classic 3-4 end with plenty of upside potential. He's also a player capable of moving inside on passing downs. He's a first-round talent.
Also scheduled to meet with the Steelers are Eastern Washington running back Taiwan Jones and Citadel cornerback Cortez Allen.
Jones, 6-1, 200, is considered a mid-round prospect. He's had some injury problems, so the visit could have been to clear up some medical issues. He missed three games, including a pair of playoff games with a broken foot.
Jones did have nine 100-yard games, including a pair over 200 yards, in 2010, finishing second in FCS in rushing.
Allen, 6-1, 197, is a mid- to late-round talent who could be a small-school gem. He had just 22 tackles and two interceptions in 2010 as most opponents stayed away from him.
California University of Pennsylvania QB Josh Portis visited the Miami Dolphins last week. That has been his lone visit thus far.
Sounds like a good player. I'd still like a cb but if there is much better talent at other positions you dont wanna reach much..
ReplyDeleteI prefer the Seelers go "BIG" with their first pick. If available, any of the following players would be better value than any DB at 31: NT Taylor, DE Jordan, DE Heyward, OG Pouncey.
ReplyDeleteI agree with steelcan, go big or go home. It all starts up front (on both sides of the line). I would love to see the Steelers pick the best available big man when they get their turn. The exception to this is if the Steelers were to get a chance at Patrick Peterson or Prince Amukamara (never happen).
ReplyDeleteOne one hand we wouldn't have to worry about DL for a long while! On the other it's not a big need. But the steelers always do go BPA
ReplyDeleteSo I wouldn't mind the pick if he's good. Just don't know anything about him
it's hard to argue with their first round draft picks. whoever it is will most likely be very good for the team.
ReplyDeleteTaylor got thrown out of Penn State. They don't do that often, particularly to good players. And Pouncey won't be available.
ReplyDeleteI think too often fans try to match the order of needs to their draft order. Ex: Db #1, Ol#2 etc. It just never works out that way. We should all just go in with an open mind. Remember BPA!(With a few exceptions of course).
ReplyDeleteIf Pouncey is available beyond about 26-27 I think we should trade up. We should not forget about "twin power" (that the two together will be greater than either one alone). Also it is not coincidence that the two of them played on championship teams in HS and in college.
ReplyDeleteMrs. Isaac Redman
Of all the Olineman that might be there for the steelers....i would rather would move up and grab pouncey. He can come in fight for a starting guard spot. AND his twin can help him learn the system. Not to mention, they will always try to outplay the other.
ReplyDeleteI think the Corners the Steelers like will be gone way before we have a chance to grab one.
Cameron Jordan will probably be off the board long before the Steelers pick. I'd really like to see us pick up a CB like Curtis Brown from Texas, I think he'd be a great one in our D.
ReplyDeleteIf we take a CB in round 1 they better be fast. No 4.5 guys, we have enough of those.
ReplyDeleteOur secondary needs some serious SPEED.
And no high character risk/project guys in round 1. Round 2 or 3 I might be more willing to take a chance.
Curtis Brown has been scheduled for a visit. He had a great combine.
ReplyDeleteGuess what Alex K, Your not the Steelers so why are you saying I when the steelers are making the picks. Moron
ReplyDeleteCurtis Brown visiting Steelers on WED March 30 and Allen visiting on April 1, according to Inside Pittsburgh Sports.com.
ReplyDeleteBrown would be a great get in round 2
