Burress to meet with Steelers

Per ESPN's Chris Mortensen, wide receiver Plaxico Burress will meet with the Steelers and will sign with either Pittsburgh or the Giants.

Burress, of course, began his career with the Steelers before leaving after the 2004 season for New York. He ran afoul of the law there, getting two years in prison for shooting himself in the leg at a nightclub with an handgun.

But, in my dealings with Burress, I never found him to be a bad guy. In fact, he was always pretty much a standup guy, always available and willing to talk, win or lose.

He was also well-liked by his teammates.

© In other news, the Steelers have re-signed placekicker Shaun Suisham, who was an unrestricted free agent.

probably just a bargaining tool to get more money from NYG

have read that giants offer is 2yrs/10M. no way we offer that. if we can get him at vet min with multiple incentives, i'm all for it. adios to ARE and battle.

wallace, ward, manny, brown, sweed, and plax would be solid.

  3. Rosenhaus just doing what Rosenhaus does, trying to get multiple teams interested in a client and then drive up the price. Plax should take the Giants offer because he needs the money and the Steelers won't offer nearly that amount.

    Dale,

What are your thoughts on Sepulveda's future in the Burgh? I thought he was a decent punter, even though he is a bit injury prone.

  5. well with Ben being a good Friend and Tomlin a good coach to play for i like the chances if the Money is right.I think if Danny comes in on a low offer think he will get a shot not sure we are going in the season with a rookie punter

  10. LOOKS LIKE STARKS HAS BEEN CUT
WE have J Scott and Tri Essek manning the LT spot

Scott and "Tri Essek" are UFAs.

They're clearing cap space for Plax!

  12. It's true. Starks will be released.

  13. wow Dale does that mean J scott will be resigned and Handed the LT spot.
Any chance dale that they bring someone in from the outside?

I admire J Scott for what he did for us last season. But I do NOT want him there again unless there's an injury

Marcus Gilbert is too raw. Colon is not a LT. Flozell would go back to being the penalty machine he was in Dallas.

Essex is the best choice we have?

If that's the case, and starks' release wasn't because of restructuring his deal and more about his injury and weight, then they will definitely go for a FA here

No one flashy, but certainly a bigger name than Scott last year

  15. You know, it's such a shame to waste Legursky's talent on the bench. How about we put him at Center and kick Pouncey out to LT? I bet he would do better than Starks. Might even make the Pro Bowl.

    Dale,

I'm assuming that Starks can't be a cap move because cutting Flozell would save more against the cap. Is Starks not right physically? And, do the Steelers have plans to pursue an outside option at LT?

is it possible they can bring back starks at a lower cost?

i just find it hard to believe they will part ways with him without having the offseason to continue developing the backups.

"The second-year guys are the ones who usually take the biggest step forward. That said, they didn't get their offseason workouts this year.

But Sanders and Brown both got a lot of playing time at the end of last season, which should help them."

Given that, how does adding Burress make sense?

Ben likes Burress. He wants a "tall" wr, too, even though he rarely bothers throwing to 6'7" Matt Spaeth.
