Ike Taylor is getting very close to returning to play, despite having a broken thumb.
Taylor won't play in this weekend's preaseason game against the Falcons, but he still working hard and will be ready to roll in the preseason.
© Bruce Arians said today that Trai Essex, in addition to being capable of playing guard or tackle, is now the Steelers third center.
Everyone worried about that third center position can now rest easily.
The ability of Essex to play multiple positions, including center, which I had forgotten about, could help him lock up a roster spot, despite his late signing.
© David Johnson has locked up the No. 2 tight end position, according to Arians, but the No. 3 spot is wide open.
© Former Steelers cornerback Jack Butler was nominated by the Hall of Fame senior committee for induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Considering that no nominee by the senior committee has ever not made the hall, Butler is as good as in.
Ex-Packer Jerry Kramer was nominated by the Senior Committee in 1996 & was not voted in. But that aside, Senior Committee nominees have a great shot at induction. And kudos to Butler. This was a LONG time coming. And IMO, aside from Dirt Dawson, there is no more deserving ex-Steeler, especially considering the multiple contributions Butler made to the game, both as a player and the head of BLESTO.
ReplyDeleteBut Dale who is our 4th string center ? Am I the only person that thinks of these important issues ?
ReplyDeleteDale You think we see any thing of Saunders at the 3rd TE. Any chance he can beat out gilmore.
ReplyDeleteanother brilliant and worthless comment.
ReplyDeleteI had nothing to do with the backup center discussion.
Just keep posting them and ruining threads.
Do you just like the hits it generates Dale?
Dale - can we cut Redman for a 4th string center? Redman hasn't impressed me other than that first preseason game.
ReplyDeleteTo the real Patrick....can you please shut up and please ignore the fake Patricks. I am so tired of reading this "once great blog" only to have it ruined by this crap. I have seen 4 or 5 posts asking you to ignore their comments and you don't. Everyone else is ignoring them and you keep feeding their need. You are responsible for keeping these trolls here and ruining this blog. JUST IGNORE THEM AND THEY WILL GO AWAY. Please!! Just ignore their comments and don't even acknowledge them.
ReplyDeleteTo the troll(s).....Please grow up and leave this blog alone. Do you really not have much of a life that you have to spend your valuable time stalking the real Patrick? I mean seriously.... do something productive in your life and add some value to society.
To Dale.....I have been lurking and reading for over a year and love your posts. I look forward to reading it everyday. Thanks for doing a great job. I enjoy most of the peoples quotes here. Now, if we can only get rid of the crap!
What number will the 4th center wear?
ReplyDeleteto nobody's surprise, some moron wasted their time making a login to imitate me.
ReplyDeleteCan it get any worse?
I'm beginning to think all of them are you, since you only inflame things every chance you get. It would be done now if you weren't so starved for attention. Let's not kid ourselves about this blog being "once great," but it sure used to be better than this. The 4th string Center joke was a little funny, and it didn't bother me at all. It was when I read your post that I got annoyed. His comment might have been worthless, although I thought it added a little life to things, but either way your comment was less than worthless. You made things worse. You killed it, not "them." There's no way you really want them to stop, or else you would have stopped them by now. Stick to talking about football. You are wearing out your welcome with even those of us that are level-headed.
ReplyDeleteAny updates on Mcfadden Dale? Any word that he will be getting on the field soon?
ReplyDeleteIf he would get cut that would be the biggest surprise cut of the last few years for the Steelers...I'm still skeptical that it happens.
I'll be watching Kennan Lewis closely these last two preseason games.
I have to laugh at anonymous who said to ignore the "trolls" then went on to address them! Iye iye iye. Common man
ReplyDeleteGood point, other Patrick. Maybe Redman can be the 4th center and also the long kicker for kickoffs. That would save 2 extra roster spots.
ReplyDeleteDale,
ReplyDeleteThis might be a left field question.. But can the steelers trade Bmac? A few teams are desperate for corners..
Zeke
Tim you are a moron.
ReplyDeleteGlad you are amused by little boy nonsense.
more pointless posts please.
Can we package McFarden with I. Redman in a deal for a 4th string center or a long kicking kicker? We need that.
ReplyDeleteDale, as a long-time lurker, thank you for the insight and the information.
ReplyDeleteAll,
ReplyDeleteSince I spend my entire day reading this blog and everyone's comments, I have decided to start my own blog called PATTY-from-the-sidelines.com. I will be posting interesting topics like who the Steeler's 4th team punter should be, why offensive linemen are bigger than wide receivers, and why the Steelers only start linebackers whose first names start with an 'L' or 'J'. Hope to see you all there. Patrick out.
I want to see if we can set the record for worthless comments with this topic. I think we can.
ReplyDeleteKeep it up fellas.
^ cant wait till this Patrick starts going back to elementary school next week and spends less time on this site
ReplyDeleteDale - it seems like Dirt Dawson is a lock to make the Hall next year as well. What are your thoughts about Bettis? Next year is his first year of eligibilty I believe and it would be awesome for him to go in along with 2 other Steelers. But I think he may have to wait a couple years
ReplyDeleteThe real Patrick is more annoying than the fake ones... Didnt see that coming.
ReplyDeleteHello? Is there a Patrick in the building? I really think it would be interesting to know who carries out the water at time-outs...Thank You.
ReplyDeleteMcFadden practiced today, but sparingly. Can't comment more on that because of rules regarding practice coverage.
ReplyDeleteBettis was eligible for the hall last year. The voters had a tough choice with three quality backs to choose from, Bettis, Martin and Faulk. They chose the best one. I'm guessing Martin gets in this year and Bettis next.
