I found Troy Polamalu's Tweet regarding his new contract interesting. Polamalu Tweeted that this new deal will allow him to retire as a Steeler.
That would mean Polamalu plans to retire by 2014. That will most certainly be the passing of an era, though Ben Roethlisberger will still have a few good years left in him.
© The line on the Steelers versus Ravens game has moved dramatically. When it opened, Pittsburgh was a 2 1/2-point underdog. Now, the Steelers are favored by a point.
That means a lot of money in Vegas went toward Pittsburgh.
Apparently, everyone else saw the Ravens play in the preseason.
© Expect the Steelers to have Charlie Batch as Ben Roethlisberger's backup today, with Dennis Dixon inactive. Hines Ward would be the Steelers emergency QB.
No prediction?
ReplyDeleteA little higher scoring than normal, Steelers 27-17.
I expect Brown to catch a long one. And a defensive turnover by the Steelers to ensure no chance of a comeback.
I expect "Redzone" to run for six touchdown's, then run around the world and back. Then before the game is over, I predict he will run for six more.
ReplyDeleteSteeler 1001, Ravens -infinity
(they lose points when, due to frustration, all of their players are ejected for flagrant unsportsmanlike conduct when the Steelers run up the score).
Mrs. Isaac Redman
Cortey Allen in over Curtis Brown? Anything interesting in that?
ReplyDeleteDefinitely weird, considering he played one preseason game
ReplyDeleteplease tell me Curtis is injured
That's a special teams move. Allen's a better gunner.
ReplyDeleteMy prediction in the paper was 24-17 Steelers
List of inactive Steeler players: Dixon, Dwyer, C Brown, Carter, C Scott, Foster, Cotchery.
ReplyDeleteNot too surprising to see Tomlin take advantage of the new rule allowing 46 active players and no restrictions on the back up QBs' play by having a regular player suit up instead of a 3rd qb.
Doesn't Tomlin like 7 DL in the early season when it's warm, too, so they can rotate more often?
ReplyDeleteVery surprised about Gilbert. They must like him a lot.
this is so bad I just want to punch the clown in the face.
ReplyDeleteWell, so much for the optimism regarding the Steelers team. The offensive line looked so mismatched it seemed pro's against pewee league players. The defense was so bad during the first half forcing one to ask the following question, is this what is coming down the whole season? Was this what such players as Timmons, Polamalu, Woodley, and Taylor were signed and extended for? Is this the bad ass unstoppable offense we were expecting, not quite. Gee this one is going to take some time to rub off. Another week of no NFL Network or football related information, it would be just to painful.
ReplyDeleteGlad to see Willie Colon back to form with 1 false start and a holding penalty.
ReplyDeleteI won't be the least bit surprised to see them bring Flozell Adams back.
So, worst game since??
ReplyDeleteRavens wanted it much more, but still no excuse for the slowness and non interest most players showed on the field. Wallace, Sanders (mostly for the td) and Ike were the main exceptions
The rest needa good kick in the ass. Wait, they got just that today in baltimore. Next week, no DURING the week in practice I want to see an angry and hungry team. Not the crap we got today
those are not our pittsburgh steelers
Rice and Ngata were just so much better today than any Steeler on the field. That combined with a weak oline performance and some bad turnovers was the reason for the lopsided score.
ReplyDeleteOn a positive...aside from dumb unsportsmanlike penalty, I though Ike Taylor plaid very well today. Brett Keisel also had a decent game. Troy and Woodley were no where to be found however.
Wow, what a stunner that was, looked like the Pittsburgh team in the 1st preseason game.... Agreed, I hope Tomlin kicks some ass on the plane ride back home!!
ReplyDelete7 freakin turnovers?? Well this ass kickin can either send a message to this team, or it can spiral into another super bowl hangover year.....
Is it too late to get my prediction in?
ReplyDeleteA little higher scoring than normal, Steelers 27-17.
I expect Brown to catch a long one. And a defensive turnover by the Steelers to ensure no chance of a comeback.
Just kidding. That was a lot of frustration for years of failure coming out in one big dose.
ReplyDeleteMy real prediction? The emotional drain from this win carries over to next week and the Ravens lose a close one with the Titans. The Steelers will get a chance to soothe their wounds with an easy win over Seattle.
Just remember that the Steelers shellacked the Patriots a few years ago while the Patriots were on their way to another Super Bowl. This loss, while bad, is no reason to get down on the Steelers.
I do predict a change on the Steelers offensive line.
And I like how now certain people on this board threaten to punch innocent clowns in the face....while I am sure the threatener is sitting in a dark room with a vaseline and ten p*rnhub.com windows open!!!
The Steelers get trampled by Baltimore and Clown Patrick actually makes a sensible post. The sky is officially falling.
ReplyDeleteA total team loss, but man, Tony Hills and Ramon Foster must really be terrible. If only they were brilliant defense-readers
ReplyDeleteYeah, I know, and that fake Patrick says I don't contribute anything. At least I don't have to wipe off my hands before typing on my keyboard...
ReplyDeleteI agree that next week vs Tenn could well be a trap game for Balt. Obviously not the same, but I remember a few years ago, my HS alma mater smoked our big rivals on their field. We didn't win another game that season; they won the state title.
ReplyDeleteI also think Balt's offensive scheme caught the Steeler D off guard. They've never done the kind of things they did before today. But, now they are on tape for everyone to disect and analyze. The element of surprise isn't going to be there from here on out.
I expect the Steelers to regroup especially now that they have the coveted "disrespect" card to play.
"I do predict a change on the Steelers offensive line."
ReplyDeletedid you come up with that one all by yourself? If so, its pure genius.
Baltimore's offensive scheme was to have the ball handed to them by their defense 7 times. I do not care how well or poorly our defense played, a -7 turnover ratio is a JOKE. You can't ask the "D" to overcome that.
ReplyDeletelets not kid ourselves, the D was as bad as the O.
ReplyDeleteNo, fake Patrick, the turnover ratio gave a tremendous advantage to the Ravens offense. The Steelers D didnt come up with one of their mythical performances, but week 1 is really not the time for it. Later in the season, and when it matters in the playlets, it will be there. Better to peak then than now.
