Who I Like, KC version

I thought the Chiefs were highly overrated last season and took advantage of an easy schedule. This season, that is proving true.

Kansas City is 4-6, but the Chiefs have been blown out by four or more touchdowns in four games this season.

If it weren't for Indianapolis and a couple of wins over AFC West opponents, everyone would be asking what happened to the Chiefs.

The Steelers are also as healthy as they have been all year. Yes, LaMarr Woodley will sit out again, but it won't matter against Tyler Palko.

Palko may have all the football smarts in the world - and I don't doubt the he does - but what he doesn't have is an NFL-caliber arm.

And given that the Chiefs have trouble running the ball, that's not a good combination.

Take the Steelers to win, 31-6

  1. The Steelers have won all of the games the "should" win this season so I have to concur, the Chiefs are outmatched and outmanned.

I'll bet Orton starts and not Palko.

@ adamg Orton has one day of practice, he probably won't even active.

  4. Orton will be fortunate to dress. I'd take that bet in a heartbeat.

    27-13 Steelers.

I hate seeing Harrison, Polamalu, Roethlisberger, and Woodley all on the injury report. Not that any of them are a big deal, and everybody gets dinged up as the season goes on, but it still makes me uneasy. Not for the Chiefs game, but as the season goes on. Just had two weeks off: Harrison's back again, Polamalu's "rib," Ben's death-defying thumb... I just assume Polamalu's hiding the fact that his ribs have punctured his lungs and aorta... Give me something to worry about, please.

  6. Kansas City...

...I have to agree, the Steelers should win this one. And they've been winning the "should win" games this year, which is important.

Still, the KC game in 2009 was supposed to be the bounce back game.

I agree, however, the Steelers will win.

  7. I think the steelers will win but not blow them out of the park.

yeah, the steelers will let the chiefs live a little

plus Im sure the refs will have some calls to at least make the game more interesting and competitive

Didn't Palmer play a couple days after he was traded to Oak?

Anyway, I think it will be a close game. The Steeler offense rarely manages to dominate for 60 minutes and the defense usually hiccups, too, in games like this.

@ adamg Palmer was put in after the back-up QB threw 3 int's and after a week of practice, not after 1 walk through. Not to mention do you really want to use the Raiders as an example of what other teams would do?

  11. What he said. Plus, Palmer knew that offense. Plus, we're talking about Kyle freaking Orton here

  12. I realize the Steelers have a habit of playing down to their competition and making games that shouldn't be close, closer than they should be (Jax this year) but this one should be a blowout. The only thing the Chiefs have that could bother the Steelers is Tamba Hali and they can neutralize him.

I'll take the Steelers 34- 13. # sacks for Harrison and a pick six by troy. Its about that time.

I would venture to say Orton, with 1 day of practice, is probably already better than Palko.

Playing down with a broken throwing hand thumb is never a good idea. The confidence here sounds as if our QB could win with hands tied. Some of our should win games have been nail bitters, with the thumb. I am bothered about the thumb.

  15. This will be a good chance to see if BA learned his lesson from the Indianapolis game. In that game, we didn't have to worry about the opponent's pass offense, rush offense, or secondary. The ONLY issue was the pass rush from two players, Freeney and Mathis. There was still not even a plan to stop them, and we almost lost because of it.

Seems like a similar situation here. We have starks instead of Scott, but I would still put two guys on Hali every single play.

  16. "# of sacks" for Harrison was supposed to read "3 sacks for Harrison"

@ Tim: KC has 12 total sacks this season.

@ adamg: Dale brought up a great point, Carson was coming into a system that he ran under the same coach while in Cincinnati.

I really expect Orton to dress and only play if the game gets out of hand. Palmer may have been under the same OC, but also Orton played in Denver and should be at least somewhat familar with how KC plays under Haley since they are division rivals.

Palko may be bad but he's had alot more time than Orton to dissect the playbook. If Orton got in the game at all they're playbook would be very very limited. I recall an ESPN story after Palmer's terrible debut for Oakland and he was saying he had a pool of about only 15 plays to pick from out of the entire playbook due to his lack of practice time. It would get ugly for KC.

  20. can't believe theres been more than a post regarding Palko or Orton with a few days of practice. KC is screwed either way.

    who cares?

  21. @ anonymous:

And KC shouldn't worry about Troy because of the number of Steeler interceptions? Hali is good. Not worrying about it is what gets you into trouble.
