Roethlisberger laughs off report he won't play

Ben Roethlisberger was surprised by an NFL Network report that he will not play Saturday against the St. Louis Rams.

The report, made via Tweet by Jason La Canfora, claimed that team officials told him Roethlisberger would sit out against the Rams.

"The NFL Network said that? Not really, they always like to say things," Roethlisberger said when asked if he was surprised by the report.

"Unless coach has said something, I’m going to wait to hear it from him."

Roethlisberger said he expects to play.

© Maurkice Pouncey also expects to play this week. He's been fitted with a brace for his injured ankle.

with all the crazy playoff scenarios, it seems most likely the steelers will be playing on the road against someone from the afc west. if all 4 teams finish 8-8, which is quite possible, the chiefs would actually win the tie breaker.

who would you want to face of those four?

  2. Dale,

Considering how Ben played this past week, would you put him on the field with his ankle like it is on a short week?

  4. Makes absolutely no sense playing Pouncey.

Legursky played well. The last thing we need is a hobbled Pouncey for the playoff run

They should just forfeit the rest of the regular season, I mean it worked so well for the Colts all those years.

  8. If the guys are healthy enough to play, they play. Period.

Win the final two games and hope Baltimore stumbles at Cinci.

As Herm Edwards famously said, "You play to win the game."

  9. I am not sure about Pouncey this week.He is one guy we need healthy for the playoffs.

  10. Again, if he's healthy, he plays.

Your game does not get sharper sitting on the bench.

Ya, I agree with you Dale about if they are healthy, they will play. But I still feel Big Ben needs to sit this game out, rest that ankle for the Browns game and playoffs, cause with our D against the Rams, we should win this game.....

Or if he has to play, lets hope for a big lead by half time, and rest him and play ole Charlie the rest of the way.

What is the status of Woodley and Sanders??

  13. Like how Dale is laying down the law here. Awesome. I'm concerned that the Offense will try to keep #17 happy and to do so, go for the long pass plays. I really hope we don't sign up for too many of those slow-developing plays that put Ben at risk for injury.

  14. Don't worry, Arians will really watch how he distributes the plays with a hobbled QB... 49ers game was almost 50 pass plays and less than 20 runs.

Charlie Batch is equally capable of leading the offense to three points while commiting four turnovers. He's not, however, capable of beating NE / Balt., etc. in the playoffs.

Anyway, if Ben wants to play, Ben will play, it's up to him, not the coaches.

I love it when we go for 40 yards on 3rd and 2. Way to make the high percentage call..

Ravens just lost Boldin for the next 2 games. Cinci still could make playoffs if they win out. Ravens suck on the road.

Ravens could easily lose the final game. If that happens and the Steelers win out, the Steelers win the division. If Houston also loses one, we get a bye week

All you sissies whining about resting players need to watch a different sport or something. This is a mans game

Resting Ben is not an option, our offense needs to be clicking come playoff time.
