The Steelers OTAs are set to begin this week and the team has some interesting battles that will begin.
We all know by now of the team's shakeup on the offensive line. As I've said, Jonathan Scott will likely take first-team snaps at left tackle and Ramon Foster will be at right guard - for now.
But rookies Mike Adams and David DeCastro will be pushing from the start.
The other big battle will be at cornerback across from Ike Taylor.
William Gay, last year's starter, is gone and Keenan Lewis will get the first chance to replace him.
But second-year players Cortez Allen and Curtis Brown will be pushing hard.
Of course, one of those three will be in the starting lineup. Another will be the third corner.
Thought Foster got moved to LG along with Colon. Sets up an interesting competition.
ReplyDeleteDale, I think there will be a lot of interesting battles because I think this is the year that the Steelers will go with a lot of youth rather than keeping a veteran a year too long (ala A. Smith, B. McFadden, etc.) RB, TE, CB, backup OLB, OL and DL are all interesting positions to watch. Here's also hoping that Ben stops crying about the playbook and just learn it. I'm interested to see what a new set of eyes like Haley will do with this current personnel that Arians did not do.
ReplyDeleteI thought Adams and Decastro could not participate because they are still in school?
ReplyDeleteThey can't
ReplyDeletethe draft passed without getting any depth at OLB.
ReplyDeleteAny chance Free Agnet OLB Ernie Sims could do well in our 3-4 system?
He might be worth another NFL look as a backup, considering he has always been a fair starter.
Is it true that Max Starks was at the facility today to have his knee checked and was cleared for OTA`s? I hear he could receive an offer by the end of the week...
ReplyDeleteDale,
ReplyDeleteWhat up with Ben's right thumb. I see it was wrapped..
