Rookies complete their first camp

The Steelers rookies completed their first workouts with the team over the weekend. I'd love to report more, but the team has restricted what the media is permitted to report from the workouts and, I took a well-needed week of vacation last week and skipped the workouts.

What gives?

How can I take a week off when the team is working?

Honestly, we won't know a thing about these rookies until we see them interacting with the veterans and where the team lines them up when everyone is present.

We all know that David DeCastro, Mike Adams and Alameda Ta'amu are big. We know that Sean Spence is short.

Outside of that, there isn't a lot to be gained from these kind of workouts - media wise.

OK, there are a couple of things. David DeCastro lined up initially at right guard. Mike Adams at left tackle. They will likely both swap sides at some point before it's all said and done.

The players are having the playbook thrown at them for the first time. Outside of that, until mini-camp later this month, we really won't know much.

@ One thing we do know is that the new rookie salary cap rules are having the desired effect. The Steelers have begun signing their draft picks and given the new rules, there's a good chance everyone could be signed by the time mini-camp opens up May 22.

You couldn`t have picked a better week to take vacation. The most exciting thing all week was Batch not showing up where he didn`t need to be... That one really got blown out of proportion.
Hope you enjoyed your time off!

    Dale,

ESPN Insider says that Pittsburgh is a possible landing spot for Ladainian Tomlinson.

Do you see that working out? After Redman and Rainey, we dont have much NFL talent.

What the heck would we want LT for? IMO we have more than enough talent at RB.

  4. Don't see Tomlinson coming to Pittsburgh. Kind of like the Tiki Barber bullcrap last year.
Throw it against the wall and hope it sticks.

Tomlinson could work at the carwash in scott township, anything else is a stretch at this point.

  6. Sounds like some ESPN hack looked around the league for running back challenged teams (whether perceived or real) and then plugged this stupid idea into the scenario. Ladanian Tomlinson WAS a great player and his legacy deserves better treatment. Shame on ESPN.

i don't see why the steelers would be interested in LT anyway. the stable of RB's they have to start next season are more than capable, imo.

Personally, I would love to have a veteran presence at the RB position, that is something that LT could provide, but when it comes to talent and being able to perform in the system now...I will take what we have.

Wouldn't Tim Hightower be a better fit?? Knows Haley from their time at Arizona too ...

  10. I like Hightower, but he's coming off a major knee injury. If you're going to sign him, it would be later.
They don't need another running back
