Cornerback Cortez Allen will not play for the Steelers Monday night against Cincinnati after sitting out all week with an ankle sprain.
With Allen out, the Steelers will bump Will Gay into a starting role opposite Ike Taylor, who figures to shadow A.J. Green.
That will also put rookie Shamarko Thomas on the field in the nickel.
@ It appears that Fernando Velasco will start at center for the Steelers.
The Steelers were hopeful that Velasco could pick things up quickly enough to start so that they could move Kelvin Beachum back to a tight end role. Beachum is also the top backup at all of the other line spots.
If Beachum had to start at center and the Steelers had an injury elsewhere, it could have put Guy Whimper on the field. And nobody wanted to see that.
cortez allen is a joke. since he's been drafted he's been on the injury report every week except for like 1.
ReplyDeleteif they dont think Whimper is worth playing then why is he on the roster?
ReplyDeleteCortez Allen played in 15 games his rookie year and played in 15 games last year.
ReplyDeleteDon't let the facts screw up your argument though.
Injury report and OUT are not the same thing....not to involve myself in your debate.
ReplyDeleteOh, I know. But who cares about the injury report? Tom Brady was on the injury report every game for like five years. If you're on the injury report but you play in the game then I don't count that against you.
ReplyDeleteNo prediction Dale?
ReplyDeleteI like Steelers 21-17 with the D scoring some points.
My prediction is that the Oline is better without Pouncey and that the Steelers make the playoffs. I know Pouncey is the worlds most amazing player but can the line play any worse than it has since he was drafted?
ReplyDeleteI've been supportive of the theory that Pouncey is wildly overrated for a while, but it's a bit ridiculous to suggest the line will be better without him. They're plugging in a guy that's practiced with the team for less than a week. If he were significantly better than a 3 time Pro-Bowl center, do you think he'd still be a free agent for the Steelers to pick up at this point?
ReplyDeleteAs far as the game goes, I don't really see any scenario in which the Steelers come out of the game with a win. The Bengals should be fired up after a close loss to the Bears last week and now they're facing a division rival that looks to be down-and-out. The Bengals will go for the jugular, unfortunately. 27-17 with most of the Steelers success coming in garbage time.
