After going through some individual drills on Wednesday, defensive end Travis Kirschke sat out Thursday as he continues to attempt to come back from a calf injury that has sidelined him the past two games.
Kirschke, of course, had been thrust into a starting role after Aaron Smith was lost for the season.
Nick Eason has started the past two games at defensive end with Smith and Kirschke out.

with this 35 yr old suffering set back after set back, do you see the Steelers putting him on IR and bringing in a FA with 3-4 end experience. someone young and reliable for depth behind ziggy and eason.

Just wanted to see who practiced today, i know Troy's not playing but Kirschke? Also, i read how Sweed makes all these plays ini practice do you see the same talent when you go?
I wasn't talking about you so much as all the personal attacks at you Patrick. I don't know what you've done to tick all these people off, but they do enjoy tweaking you.
Sweed does some stuff in practice, but it's just that, practice. Nobody's going to be hitting him there.

At what point do you cut bait with Sweed if he doesn't show something? Training camp next season, or do you let him stay through his contract? I am thinking that for all that Holmes has done, the team is not going to give a big contract to him. So the team will have to fill two sets of cleats (ward's and his) within a season of each other. They need to get a solid 1 and 2. (Wallace could be one of those guys of course.)

I don't think they'll give up on Sweed quite yet. Wallace's emergence gives them some wiggle room there. It assures that they don't have to draft a WR in next year's draft.
And he's not making all that much money. They like Holmes.
