Blair in the NFL?

Sportingnews.com had an interesting blurb today about Pitt center DeJuan Blair considering the NFL as a potential fallback option if his future in the NBA doesn't work out.

I had the same conversation with somebody in the Steelers front office late in the season last year.

I mentioned that Blair, with his massive wing span and quick feet would be an ideal offensive tackle. He'd just have to put on about 20 or so pounds - which I don't think would be a real problem for him.

The front office official agreed.

That said, Blair has a future in th NBA - if he can develop a 10 to 15-foot jump shot.

  1. I've long thought he would make a great tight end. Put the ball about 13 feet above the endzone and let him go grab it. I have no doubt he has the physical toughness and strength to play football.

  2. Project with a capital "P"

and I like Projects, Ike Taylor comes to mind. But Tackle? that seems a bit far off, TE seems more like it for this guy

instead, they should go after Levance Fields for a new waterboy. He has no future in basketball and is vastly overrated

  4. I disagree about Fields. He can play in Europe and make a very good living at it.
    I hardly think he's overrated.

Randy Reutershan, a Pitt alum, was on the Super Bowl winning team in '78.

Honestly speaking neither Pitt or Penn States football program has won a championship in 20 years so neither has much to brag about.

The 1994 Lions team that went undefeated and won the Rose Bowl should have at least had a share of the National Championship that was awarded to Nebraska. So while you're technically right about the championships, that Penn State team was one of the instances cited in the creation of the heavily flawed BCS.

Yeah, who wants a Pitt loser on their team? Marino, Dorsett, Fitzgerald, Grimm, Martin, Revis, Ditka, they all suck.

Blair might be an option in the Wildcat formation.

Pat White would be a better option for the Wildcat. (much better option than any of those Pitt losers ;))

No, we were talking about Pitt/Penn State players who contributed to the Steelers winning the Super Bowl. (0 from Pitt)
