Steelers 2014 Schedule

The NFL released its schedules for 2014 and it wasn't necessarily kind to the Steelers.

Pittsburgh gets just four days off after its opener, when it has to head to Baltimore for a Thursday night game.

The Steelers also play all four of their games against division rivals Cleveland and Baltimore in the first nine weeks of the season. They won't play the Bengals until December, when they have two of their final four games against Cincinnati.

Another interesting part of this schedule? All of the team's away games are schedule in groups of two.

After playing Baltimore Sept. 11, the Steelers are at Carolina the following week. After playing Jacksonville Oct. 5, they are at Cleveland the following week. After playing the Jets Nov. 9, they are at Tennessee Nov. 17. And following a game at Cincinnati Dec. 7, Pittsburgh is at Atlanta Dec. 14.

Sept. 7, Cleveland, 1 p.m.
Sept. 11, at Baltimore, 8:25 p.m.
Sept. 21, at Carolina, 8:30 p.m.
Sept. 28, Tampa Bay, 1 p.m.
Oct. 5, at Jacksonville, 1 p.m.
Oct. 12, at Cleveland, 1 p.m.
Oct. 20, Houston, 8:30 p.m.
Oct. 26, Indianapols, 4:25 p.m.
Nov. 2, Baltimore, 8:30 p.m.
Nov. 9, at N.Y. Jets, 1 p.m.
Nov. 17, at Tennessee, 8:30 p.m.
Bye week

Unless we totally mess it up, conservatively, we should be at least 9 and 7. That record would have been good enough to make the playoffs last year. If we even win one game against a decent team we will be in the playoffs for sure. Of course, I said the same thing last year.

At least the Ravens Thursday nighter is early in the season.

I say we go 4-2 in the division, lose to Jets (think they will have beastly defense), beat Chiefs, 2-2 vs. NFC south, and lose to Colts.

What is that? I'll go 10-6 (including Ben healthy + a pass rush).

I think a late bye is overrated but at least it's a change.

so December 14 is the day Ben might finally beat all 31 teams

  5. Wow, is that right, Ben has beaten all 31 teams, except Atlanta? That is quite impressive!

  6. Dale,

This draft would go along way to returning the Steelers to the playoffs:

    1 – CB K. Fuller, Va. Tech
    2 – DT, S. Truitt, Notre Dame
    3 – WR D. Moncrief, Mississippi
    3 – OLB J. Attaochu, Ga. Tech
    4 – OT A. Richardson, Tennessee
    5 – ILB, J. Zumalt, UCLA
    5 – CB W. Aikens, Liberty
    6 – WR J. Brown, Pittsburgh State
    6 – OLB L. Webster, Bloomsburg
    7 – NT R. Carrethers, Arkansas State

(Steelers pick up extra 3rd & 6th rd picks for trade down in 1st round)

  7. I wouldn't have a problem with that draft.

  9. Dale, thought so. Great minds tend to think alike.

  10. Espn pointed out that every game is in the eastern time zone. That helps.

  11. I'm going to be at the bar a lot early Sun with ten 1 pm games. Can those be flexed?

Hopefully Madden comes with the directTV package again or I'll be broke.

In regards to the draft, I think we can eliminate Roby from consideration.

Don't know what happened to my posts, but...

@ Patrick...Steelers are already at the max of 5 Prime Time games, so Flex shouldn't be an issue.

@ Lexington...Nashville is Central Time Zone.

After last season and the way the Steelers managed to find ways to lose to the most miserable opponents I don't think anyone can look at this schedule and start penciling in wins.

Yeah, this might be Ben's last shot at Atlanta. He should have gotten the win in 2006 if Nate Washington didn't false start on the would-be winning FG. (Ben got KOed in that game, but he would have been the starting QB of record.)

That game was sickening yet memorable, like most of the 2006 season:
    - Hines scoring a TD with one shoe
    - Alge Crumpler owning the defense
    - Cowher joking with Vick on the sidelines
    - Vick making Troy look foolish scrambling on the winning drive in OT

Unfortunately, there's a high probability Ben will be injured by the time Week 15 comes around.

7-9 if we play like last year... question is how good draft picks will be... we will only know in october..

  16. I look for them to bounce back this season. Last season was almost like 2000 to me.

They started slowly and rallied at the end to finish 9-7. They had a chance to make the playoffs heading into their final game at San Diego, but needed some help. Didn't get it, but the addition of Hamp and Bell and a resurgence from Kordell Stewart pushed them to 13-3 in 2001.
