I started covering the Steelers in 1993, two years after Chuck Noll retired. But his legacy on the team was obvious every time you walked into Three Rivers Stadium and, later, the Steelers offices on the South Side or Heinz Field.
He created what is now commonly known as the Steelers' way.
Here are my thoughts on Noll and what he meant to the team http://www.observer-reporter.com/article/20140614/COLUMN0103/140619681#.U50TevldWGc

RIP Coach Noll. The man who got the Steelers on track.
I have always believed it's difficult as fans to determine what a coach/player/celebrity is really like until later in life when those they worked with reminisce back on their times together. if you didn't believe it then, you oughta believe it now...noll was one hell of person.
I think the greatest compliment to Noll is that the NFL literally had to change the rules to beat his Steelers.
Very nice Dale. Your closing was spot-on, from all I've read about Noll, and something more folks would do well to keep in mind...
