Welcome from Gillette Stadium.
It's rainy and chilly here with thunder storms in the area until about 10:30 p.m. Hopefully, we don't have a lightning delay tonight.
The Steelers inactives include Landry Jones, tight end Jesse James, wide receiver Sammie Coates, cornerback Ross Cockrell, defensive end L.T. Walton, offensive lineman Chris Hubbard and defensive end Caushaud Lyons.
Coates is a bit of a surprise. He has more special team ability than Tyler Murphy. But obviously Murphy is viewed as a more complete receiver at this point,
New running back Jordan Todman getting a hat also is a surprise. He's been with the team for less than a week. We'll see what kind of playing time he gets, if any.
For New England, the big deactivation is Ryan Wendell, who is listed as the starter at right guard. With starter Bryan Stork already on IR with a designation to return, it was assumed Wendell would start at center. Now, it appears that job will fall to rookie David Andrews.
The Patriots also are expected to start rookie Shaq Mason at guard in place of Wendell, who was not on the injury list all week.
Should make things interesting.

Definitely didn't like the gadget play call so early. The Pats D was off already on their heels and guessing. Killed the drive.
Leaving Gronk uncovered, ugghhh!
Scobee looks good
Wow, and we traded for Scobee...
Wow, what a good pick up, this Scobee guy. Does it look like the Steelers want to win? Just keep the gun away from your head son.
10 men on the field, thought you'd give them a chance. The team is shooting itself in the foot.
Is McLendon hurt? Cam Thomas got pushed around like a ragdoll on those couple of short yardage plays. You can tell these guys on defense didn't play 10 plays together in the 5 preseason games.
I sure hope next year Colbert and Tomlin spend all their draft picks on defensive tackles. The lack of a competent NT has killed the 3-4 for the past 3 years.
Bey, keep your feet in bounds.
Shazier does look like he is playing well.
And then he whiffs
Same old Steelers ...
Tip: A good way to not miss field goals?
End drives with touchdowns.
Bullshit interference call.
Embarrassing.
Why is this team always so terrible on the road under Tomlin?
Apparently the Steelers don't practice any plays from the 2 yard line, brutal. I think the odds are better of getting a TD if you pass than if run from the 6.
The defense doesn't have a nose for the ball.
this d is so poorly coached. I honestly can't go over it.
we saw dupree and garvin covering gronk tonight.
But, but, but...yards, we got yards!
Two-minute warning. AGAIN with the clock management. I say they bring in Mike Smith to tutor Ben, Tomlin, and Haley.
Missed opportunities.
Plenty of people figured NE would hang 50+ on the Steelers. The defense did better than expected. The offense really never recovered from that odd option pass call after they'd been chewing up NE's defense with the run game on their first possession. Two missed FGs and the procedure penalty at the 1. That's 10 pts right there.
The 2 minute warning was irrelevent given NE had a 2 TD lead and it was highly unlikely the Steelers would be able to get a quick TD and recover an onside kick. NE was rushing 4 and playing everyone else back in deep coverage.
So a team with less yards ... put up more points ... even though we had the ball longer?
Good thing Tomlin will say all the right things so this aberration doesn't ever happen again!
Quick thoughts. Zero push up the middle by DL against rookie. Caught blake half assing it on numerous plays. Shazier looked good. OL played well. Offense was fine other than a few plays. Remember, no bell and bryant.
Anon 11:23 ...
It's their offensive philosophy: "Let's drive all the way down the field and NOT put it in. It'll totally mess with their heads!"
Adam, you're off on you math, it's 13 points missed there. And those of us complaining about the two minute warning aren't talking about hoping to win there, we're talking about the REPEATED failures to run the 2-minute offense throughout the years. It's unreal. The offense repeatedly can't run an efficient 2 minute offense. Ben consistently downs the ball way too early losing a down (I know, he didn't do that this time).
Just because some pundits who are in love with the Patriots were expecting to them to hang 50 points on us, doesn't make 28 points any better. Brady literally had his way with them all first half until they uncharacteristically let up on the gas.
This team just isn't that good this year. Sorry.
Oh wait, my bad, i see what you meant by 10 points. :)
