Adams visits

Former Dallas offensive tackle Flozell Adams visited with the Steelers today as the team looks at its options for replacing injured Willie Colon at right tackle.

It's a somewhat surprising move considering the Steelers' past regarding bringing in players late in the game - ie. after spring practices - but speaks somewhat to the desperation this team has.

They haven't signed Adams yet, but the bringing him in tells me the front office knows its defense is getting older and the window of opportunity for this current group to make a Super Bowl run is closing.

Then again, they may have just brought him in for a physical in case they have another injury on the offensive line.

We'll see what happens.

If he could start at LT for Dallas last year then he should have enough left in the tank to play on the right side for us. He might look pretty good there. He still run blocks well, his pass blocking is what has been questionable. He's a better option than Anderson of they choose to bring someone in, IMO.

Adams had serious troubles last year in Dallas at LT.

Serious troubles is an understatment. The guy has been flagged something, like, 40 times in the past 3 seasons. Crazy. Regularly leads the league in false starts, holds like a fiend....and still managed to get Romo creamed around 15 times a year ago.

That said, if he were brought in to play on the right, some of that MIGHT be mitigated(you would assume he wouldn't have to hold as much, since he wouldn't be facing the best rushers anymore). The false start thing is mental though....and I doubt it's going to magically go away.

He's almost certainly a better short-term answer at RT than anything they currently have on roster though(which is probably faint praise, but it's the truth. Eeep!).

If they want him, he's probably going to cost them a ton. Wasn't he due about 5 million if Dallas had kept him? Not saying he'll get that, but I'll bet he's going to ask for it. Whatever teams come closest to it 'wins.'

Heard the OL has been switched completely around with Starks at RT, Essex at LT and Pouncey at RG. That actually makes the most sense to me and puts Starks and Essex both where they are more comfortable (and better suited), imo.

I thought Starks was supposedly more comfortable at LT because he's left handed and he played there in college.

accoridng to "keeeeeeevin", no one in their right mind would think Starks at RT

but who knows. I happen to think Starks to RT makes sense so long as someone else is good with LT.

I don't know when this line switch happened since the Steelers aren't holding any workouts and won't until training camp opens.

Any comments on the Tomlin extension? I think it was the right move by the Rooney's.
