Steelers-Rams game-day thread

Rookie L.T. Walton will see his first  NFL action today for the Steelers against the Rams as he's active with Daniel McCullers out with a knee injury.

Cortez Allen also is out today for the Steelers, meaning the corners will be William Gay, Antwon Blake and Brandon Boykin.

Also inactive for the Steelers are Landry Jones, Ryan Shazier, Chris Hubbard, Jesse James and Caushaud Lyons.

For the Rams, rookie running back Todd Gurley is active. It will be interesting to see how much he's used today. Remember, he hasn't taken a snap since tearing his ACL last November while at Georgia.

Ryan Shazier has his right arm in a sling today on the field. That was not the case all week.

I mocked Gurley as 3rd pick in the draft. I'm hoping he isn't quite ready yet.

I don't think he will be a huge factor today. Remember, didn't get any preseason. I would expect them to give him 10 or so carries to get his feet wet.

First hits since November; They would be crazy to give the man a huge workload

Kelvin Beachum having a pretty forgettable day at the office in the first half.

Not able to watch the game, how bad is Ben's knee injury? I see he is out for the rest of the game and needed to be carted off.

looked bad enough that I doubt he'll be back this year. NFL.com has the highlight up.

Season over. Only positive is that it happened early enough to where we will finish amongst the bottom feeders this year and get that top 10 draft pick which can be a stud.

Another reason to absolutely loathe playing (1) on turf and (2) in that crap stadium -- football should be played 100% on grass. Can't make it happen? Move the team.

Might have happened on grass, might not. But grass gives and turf holds the foot.

Ban the DH, ban the turf!

Pouncey suffered two major leg injuries on the grass at Heinz Field. Hyde got knocked out of the game when his leg was planted and he was hit by Mitchell. Injuries can happen on any playing surface.

Anyway, the defense really came through when needed and Vick did enough to ensure the win. I won't be surprised if Tyler Murphy is added back to the roster if only for his ability to play qb in a pinch.

To distract myself from thinking about Roethlisberger's knee, I'll worry about something else:

I don't like going for two on a regular basis. I predict it will cost the Steelers a game this year if they keep it up.

Thanks for the enlightenment. I guess since people die using their seatbelt then there is no reason to use a seatbelt.

STATICALLY speaking more injuries per game are caused by turf -- because grass gives and turf does not. If Green Bay and Pittsburgh can figure it out every city can.
