Barber to the Steelers? Come on man!

The New York Post today has stated that the Steelers are a possible landing spot for Tiki Barber now that he has started the process of ending his retirement.

I don't think there's any way that happens.

I could be wrong, but I don't see the Steelers being interested in a 35-year-old guy who hasn't played a down of football in several years and who's only coming back because he needs the money once his TV gigs dried up.

It just doesn't make sense.

Yes, I know that Mewelde Moore is an unrestricted free agent, but that doesn't mean the Steelers are going to look to get older and do so with a player who's clearly in it for the money.

The Steelers are looking to get younger, not older.

Cool Tiki. You can be top 5 on our emergency list. If that

I wouldn't discount this at all. The Steelers brought in Adams to fill a void. If his workout looks good I could see them giving him a non-guaranteed contract for 2 years. Yes he is old, but in a backup role that may be okay. As Hack says, if he could teach Mendenhall to carry the ball high and tight, even if he got cut in camp, he would be worth it.

They brought in Adams because of a very big need. Running back isn't a very big need.

Barber himself was a chronic fumbler if I recall correctly.

Only valid argument I could see would be that the RB corps needs some kind of veteran leader. Not the case IMO.

In the universe of this NY reporter, we're also getting Paxico.

I had forgotten about the friendship of Tomlin and the Barbers. That makes sense as to why we are being mentioned as a possible destination.

Let me also say the following. Right now, our backups are Redman and Dwyer. That is it. If Mendenhall gets hurt, RB becomes a very big need. This FO typically likes to attempt to plan for this type of thing.

redman should be the clear number two next season and get plenty of carries to spell mendy. redman looked good in very limited duty last year.
why would anyone want tiki ? 4 years out of the league, coming back because he is broke. screw him and sign a rook or another younger guy for less money considering the little amount of plays barber would give a team

Redman isnt as good as most die-hard steelers fans think he is, or want him to be. Dwyer is upside, and nothing else. RB depth is a concern, but Tiki aint the answer.

This is a classic, "if you think the Steelers would grab him, you don't understand how they do business" conversation.

Signing a 35 year old RB who hasn't played in 4 years is just bad business. At least Adams has been playing for consecutive seasons and moved to the less demanding side of the line.

At this stage in his life Tiki Barber is nothing more than a 2nd rate running back with no upside. Total waste of time and not a guy who will help them get back to a championship game.
