Greetings from Oakland

It's a beautiful day here in Northern California and a perfect day for football.

Inactive for the Steelers today are Rashard Mendenhall, James Harrison, Troy Polamalu, Stevenson Sylvester, Charlie Batch, Alameda Ta'amu and Mike Adams.

No surprises there, but Adams being inactive means that Kelvin Beachum is the third tackle today. I would expect that if the Steelers have an injury at tackle, though, they would bring in Legursky and slide Ramon Foster to right tackle.

Ryan Mundy is starting to feel a lot like Tyrone Carter

i've been focusing on the D-line

Hood and Keisel look awful. Big weakness there

they should have billed this one as "Big Ben versus the Raiders"

Bananas, Ryan Mundy is just getting worse as the game goes on

The offense has it's chance to carry the team for once. Let's see what happens.

Haley/Roethlisberger is making for a great 1-2 punch

Wow, a touchdown in Mundy's zone, what a surprise

Nice helmet to helmet there Ryan Mundy

Pretty close to dropping Pittsburgh defense for good in fantasy football

Thnak you Ryan Mundy for single handedly losing us this ball game

ha ryan mundy alone lost this one? You're joking right?

Only got to watch the game in bits and pieces, but it seems pretty clear that LeBeau is going to have to adjust the defense as he no longer has the kind of players needed to run the 3-4 defense of the past. Obviously the D will improve when (or if) Troy and/or Harrison are healthy enough to play, but the right now there are too many square pegs being forced into round holes.

The dline needs to play better. They aren't really shutting down the run and they get NO pressure on the QB.

Sloppy and undisciplined will generally get you a game like this. Plus, whenever Ben throws for a ton of yards, doesn't it always seem like its a bad game for the team?

But the worst part to me, is Oakland looked like a team with a lot of heart and grit. The steelers looked like they didn't care for most of the second half.

Oh and you never go for it from your own 35 unless you absolutely have to. I don't care that they got it, it was stupid.

Suggesting that the Steelers didn't care is idiotic.

ok let me be crsytal clear - they did not PLAY like they cared.

even though you knew thats what I meant.

Going for it from their own 35 was ABSOLUTELY the right call.....because as we saw...the defense had no answer for anything the Raiders did in the second half.

Should have went for it on 4th and 9 as far as I am concerned.....No way I wanted to give the ball back to the Raiders with time.

5 straight scoring drives to end the game. Best thing was to try and keep our O on the field.

disappointed in the young guys on defense. i expected more from them this year. maybe they will turn it around after the bye week. but to this point, they are sub par and it brings into question the coaching/evaluating of some of these guys.

i'm not sure there is much more lebeua can do. if guys don't win their individual battles, then the defense is screwed and it all starts with the d-line. they are playing poorly and it ripples through the rest of the defense.

i thought #7 was excellent. i hated arians and have been reserving judgement on haley, but i would say #7 looks more comfortable in this offense now than he ever did under arians.

you would think after the first fumble that brown would be holding that thing like a vice the rest of the game!

i don't think this team is gonna fall of he cliff, there's too much talent. but, i did originally have them at 10-6 and am now thinking more like 8-8 based on the injuries and apparent lack of depth.

I hear you on not giving the ball back. But I certainly don't agree its "absolutely" the right call and I think the opposite. I also don't think you would say that if they did not get it.

I look at it as the risk/reward. The risk is obvious and the reward just isn't there. And that is especially evident when you punt 4 plays later and lose the game.

As a side issue, I'm also of the school of thought that you have some faith in your defense to get a stop when you need it, even if they don't deserve it. If you show no faith in them they will probably reflect that.

4th down calls like that are a gut feeling...sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. both sides can make a good arguement.

btw, to anyone who thinks the replacement refs don't suck, please rewatch this game for further evidence of their atrocities against mankind.

going for it on 4th down was absolutely the right call... and they should have done it again.

it was clear the defense wasn't going to stop them... either keep the ball offensively, or give them a short field to score on to keep some time on the clock.

Tomlin knew Lebeau's D wasn't going to get a stop late in the 4th quarter of a close game... when is the last time that happened?

I'm not all about, say, just throwing someone in there with no experience.

But wouldn't it be better to just throw, was it, (Robert) Golden in there from camp.

What does the Steelers staff see in the former 7th round pick (Ryan Mundy) that I havent seen in 3 years?
