Steelers-Jets game day thread

Rejoice Steelers fans. Daniel McCullers is active today.

With so many other guys out with injuries, the Steelers really didn't have much of a choice.

Inactive today are Ike Taylor, Shamarko Thomas, Ross Ventrone, Troy Polamalu, Ryan Shazier, Chris Hubbard and Landry Jones.

Hubbard and Jones are the only guys on that list who are healthy scratches.

For the Jets, former Steelers offensive lineman Wes Johnson is inactive, as is starting corner Darrin Walls.

The Jets will start Marcus Williams and Phillip Adams at cornerback. Either could walk into any party in America that is not their family reunion and be recognized.

And they are gonna lose to the Damn jets... getting totally dominated on both sides of the ball. Who the hell is this team really???

The past three weeks have all been lies.. this team is soft, weak, and scared again. Making Vick look like a pro bowler, and the jets as a team look like superbowl contenders.. disgusting..

You have a qb who has been on a tear lately, going against a def with banged up secondary. Your running game although good is facing a def ranked against the run at number three I believe. So why the screens and run after run?

NYJ defense is bringing the heat. Best way to nullify that is with screens and draws.

Sure seems as if karma from the last 3 weeks is catching up with Pgh.

I always hate playing teams on long losing streaks because it has to end sometime and the longer it is, the more likely the opponent, in this case Pgh, is to be the victim.

Steelers recover a clear fumble, refs refuse to overturn the ruling on the field.. And then Brown fumbles a punt. This is so difficult to watch.

You know it's not going to be your day when a clear fumble and recovery is stared at by the ref and then not even reversed when clearly the ball never went out of bounds. Then you fumble the ensuing punt and lose it.

Push the ball down the freaking field! Stop going after their front 7 with runs and dink and dunks. Challenge this notoriously horrible secondary!

Sigh. At least suisham got a monkey off his back. this is a pretty good reminder of how far the defense needs to go.

At least they didn't come out flat.

They're not getting outplayed, they're just out-Jetsing the opponent.

Typical Tomlin team

This is called "reversion to the mean." Which means back to average for you mouth breathers.

Anonymous said...

if you really thought no one would understand it, why'd you say it?

Anonymous said...

Wtf! I walk away, come back and they missed the field goal!

Anonymous said...

It'd be nice if they played like time was limited

How much time can Ben waste on one drive? What's this, five minutes?

Anonymous said...

Well, that should keep them from getting over confident.

Anonymous said...

Inexcusable!

This team just took themselves out of the 12-4/11-5 discussion and put them back in the hopeful for 9-7 slot. Tennesee has our number so I would think the Steelers are underdogs despite whatever Vegas has to say.

Tomlin is 1-8 against teams with records below .200 %. He is not a profesional.

If it's the coaches job to get the team ready to play and yet they keep being NOT ready against bad teams then what does that say about the coach?

Anonymous said...

You guys don't get it none of you. It's not that we didn't respect the Jets it's that we respected them too much. Tomlin and the other coaches need to stop talking up these garbage teams and maybe our players will play with some confidence and destroy these teams like the ravens and patriots do.

Well, if they beat Tennessee, 7-4 going into the bye isn't so bad. Good chance to make a playoff run. Still have to think division title because there's so many teams around six wins. Good that Buffalo and Miami lost.

The scary thing is this part of the larger picture: they have been a flat-out bad road team in 2014, especially the offense. (Yes, yes, the one game vs. Carolina, I know.)

The Steelers absolutely have a problem losing to bottom dwellers the last few seasons. It is not a spoiled fan illusion. That 36-16[now 17] stat over the long haul is not a relevant one for the thing that people were afraid of / complaining about going into this week.

Defense was OK after the first two drives.

Fumble call sucked.

Ben was as bad this week as he was great the previous two weeks.

I don't understand why they hurried that third down run at the end of the third quarter. What did they think they were exploiting? Whose decision was it? Minor point, but weird...

NYJ was a desperate team and they played like it. Vick, for whatever reason, has been a Steeler killer throughout his career. It just wasn't going to be the Steelers' day.

Vick has like 1 or 2 career wins against the Steelers before today. Hardly a "Steeler Killer".

adamg said...

Today was the 4th time the Steelers faced him. He's now 2-1-1. The loss was by 2 pts on a last second Suisham FG. He put up 95 pts on them the first 2 games (tie, win). Sure looks like he has their number to me.

Vick was just a game manager today he isn't the reason we lost. We lost cause Ben and Brown had a meltdown and the oline sucked.

Agree mostly with anon8:44. I also thought the game plan sucked from the coaches. It is a disturbing trend to be 1-8 against teams under .200.
