Kansas City's Bowe suspended

As if the Steelers needed any more help defeating the Kansas City Chiefs this weekend, now wide receiver Dwayne Bowe, the team's top receiver, has been suspended by the NFL for four games for violating the performance enhancing substances policy.

This leaves the Chiefs very thin at wide receiver.

Every little bit helps, especially if Troy needs to rest that knee a bit.

On another note. I'm sure most people here have read the recent article about missed tackles in the NY Times: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/11/08/sports/football/08tackle.html I was wondering, Dale, if you could give us a little more insight. Does the current incarnation of the Steelers practice in full gear more often or full contact more often than other NFL teams?

One of the things I'm very thankful for as a Steeler fan is that I don't see all the missed tackles I see other teams making. It would drive me nuts and I think it's easy for us to forget who good we've had it with this defense. They really are elite and I love hearing them take pride in their tackling.

Dale, can he appeal the suspension and possibly delay it? I could be wrong, but I think I remember this happening in the past... Of course he may be guilty as hell and there's no chance at an appeal.

i think the fact we haven't already heard he plans to appeal and indication that he is not going to appeal.

The positive test happened in training camp, so I'm sure the appeal process has already been done, that's why it's taken so long.

As for tackling, no NFL team works a lot on that during the regular season. There is also very little in training camp - though there is some.

There is to be none during the offseason per NFLPA contract rules.

If Bowe was already in the substance abuse program he would be randomly tested throughout the year, so he could have failed recently. I don't know that he is in the program, just sayin' it's possoble. Either way, Chris Chambers, c'mon down! You're the next #1 target of Matt Cassel!

I will be disappointed if the Steelers don't absolutely crush this team this weekend.

Steelers like to play down to their competition. I expect a tight game in the first half, they'll allow a non-offensive touchdown somewhere along the way, and then they'll pull away in the fourth quarter.

it'll be interesting to see how they rebound from cincy.

i look for them to come out very focused, detail oriented, with few mistakes. if that happens, they should win by 2 td's, if not more.

I don't know that they "like" to play down to their competition.
But after getting swept by Cincinnati last week, I expect a focused group this week.

So why weren't they focused last week, considering they had lost to the Bengals the first time around?

I'd understand coming out flat against a horrible team like Kansas City, but not in a game as important as last week's.

Who is John Galt? I'd say it's just part of human nature.
