Tuesday Tomlin

Mike Tomlin said today that Troy Polamalu played with a strained calf against the Chargers Sunday.

Tomlin said Polamalu suffered the injury in warm-ups and he wasn't sure Polamalu was going to play until he saw him run onto the field.

Polamalu will be limited in practice early in the week, but will play Sunday in the AFC Championship.

Center Justin Hartwig suffered a slight knee sprain in the first half Sunday, but was fitted with a brace and finished out the game. He'll be limited as well early in the week, but will play.

© Word out of Baltimore is that linebacker/defensive end Terrell Suggs expects to play with his injured shoulder, but head coach John Harbaugh didn't sound as sure.

It will be interesting to see if Suggs does play, how long he's out there or if he's out there on every play.

The big injury for the Ravens, though, will be running back Le'Ron McClain. McClain sprained his ankle against the Titans and only carried the ball a couple of times after that. He wasn't effective after the injury.

If McClain is limited, so is the Ravens' offense.

Samari Rolle has a groin injury as well, which could definitely affect Baltimore's secondary. If Rolle can't play, Baltimore will be without both of its starting cornerbacks.

I guess we will know more as the week goes on but even with Rolle and Suggs out there, I expect them to be much less effective. I am convinced that if we minimize (eliminate) turnovers again this week, we win this one going away. Otherwise, it will be the blood bath everyone is expecting.

Last time the Ravens were missing both starting cornerbacks was when we massacred them at home last year, I would love a repeat of that.

this has to be the most boring Steelers AFC championship week because everyone knows what to expect from the Ravens and the game.

I'm not complaining, but we all know the game plans. Turnovers and rushing yards/time of posession are the key, and the leader of those stats wins the game. Unless of course, a team misses 4 FG's or something crazy.

Dale, is there anything you can think of that might been differentor unexpected from the Steelers for the game? I can't think of 1 thing.

Yeah, I expect them to run the ball effectively and win about 24-10.

I'll go one up on Dale. For some reason, i think this is going to be a blowout.

and if Flacco plays the way Ben played in his first AFC Championship game, it could be a laugher.

The Ravens aren't built to make comebacks.

Dale,
I'm hearing that Troy was also very sick with the flu for the Chargers game. Is there any truth to that or was it the calf strain that limited his time in warmups?

I've found no confirmation on the flu. I do have confirmation on the calf. Mike Tomlin didn't know about the flu, so I can say that it was probably not the case.
