Sweed out, Timmons in

Limas Sweed won't play this week for the Steelers - did he play last week? - after suffering a foot injury Wednesday in practice.

That means Shaun McDonald, who was inactive against Tennessee, will 'get a hat this week,' as head coach Mike Tomlin is fond of saying.

McDonald will share time as the Steelers No. 3 receiver behind Hines Ward and Santonio Holmes with rookie Mike Wallace.

© On the good news front, it looks like linebacker Lawrence Timmons will play against the Bears.

Timmons missed the opener with a sprained ankle, but made it through practice Friday OK after being limited Wednesday and Thursday.

© Who I like - I think the Steelers will struggle a little bit as they get accustomed to playing without Troy Polamalu, while Chicago will be OK without Brian Urlacher because the Steelers won't run the ball effectively enough to hurt the Bears.

Jay Cutler will also bounce back a bit and the Steelers will lose, 20-17.

Have the Steelers ever beaten Jay "cry baby" Cutler? DaveW.in Las Vegas

No, the only other time they faced him, he beat them at Heinz Field.

Not an unreasonable prediction, but I still believe the Steelers win. 23-17.

Jake Plummer started against them at Heinz in 2006. Jay beat 'em at Invesco in '07.

I look for the offense to struggle against the 4-3 again this week.

The offense will struggle same as last week. Cutler must redeem himself. Steelers D not as dynamic without Troy.
Steelers win only if special teams scores td.

Steelers in a walk. These two teams are not even in the same league right now. NFC North is overrated. It will take Culter another 5 weeks to settle in. Favre brings nothing to Vikes, and Green Bay goes from 6-10 to 8 - 8. NFCCG will come from South and/or East.

I guess I'm in the minority, but I don't think this game will even be close. Steelers win, 21-7.

ben should have time to throw in this game. i think we will see more of mewelde or mendenhall catching the ball out of the backfied. also, more heath to try and take advantage of no urlacher in the middle.

our defense should be fine even without troy. the bear's receivers are not that good. keep them in front of us and we'll be fine.

23-13.

Dale, I've been wondering who makes the calls at the line for the o-line. Is it Hartwig or do they have Ben doing it? I seem to recall some time back they were going to have Ben making the calls for the line. I know this wouldn't explain guys whiffing on their blocks on third-and-short but I wonder if it's an area that they could improve. I like them to win this game but the Bears front four, especially Ogunleye, could give them fits today. Especially if their making poor decisions at the line pre-snap.

Ben makes some of the calls, Hartwig makes some. You'll see both of them at different times identifying blitzers and such.
