Steelers add some interesting rookie free agents

The Steelers have added seven undrafted rookie free agents at this point and there are some very interesting names among them.

Leading the group is Connecticut running back Andre Dixon, a powerful runner who replaced Donald Brown in 2009 and had just over 1,000 yard with 14 touchdowns.

Connecticut defensive end Lindsey Witten (6-4, 275), G-T Ciron Black (6-4, 327) and guard Dorian Brooks (6-2, 306) of James Madison also had draftable grades from most scouting services.

The Steelers also signed Miami (Fla.) center A.J. Trump (6-3, 310), Virginia Tech nose tackle Cordarrow Jackson (6-1, 305) and UTEP strong safety Da'mon Cromartie-Smith.

Good afternoon Dale....I believe the 'Dixon' the Steelers signed was Andre Dixon, RB, UConn.....

Well then according to this site, he hasn't signed with anyone:

Yes, Black is from LSU.

If they didn't sign Andre Dixon, is it too late to add him. The guy looks like a gamer with very quick feet, an instinct for north/south movement at the LOS, and great hands (plus a solid attitude).

Dixon reminds me of Marion Barber, same hair and same running style.

Is this list official? Or did you paste it from PFT?

Dale,

For all of Tomlin's mantra of having competition, there appears to be no competition for Spaeth as the second TE with size to be an on-line blocker?

Is there a player who can push him at this position?

for those of you living in the pittsburgh area, are the rumors i'm hearing true of #7 out on the town getting loaded with the ladies under his arm?

if those rumors are true, then that is unbelievable and he prob should be traded.

Dale, Ciron Black was on every preliminary list of UDFAs that I saw, but he is not included in the official release. Did he change his mind and sign elsewhere?

some people i know said they saw #7 at the wooden nickle last week drunk as could be having a good time. i just wanted to see if anyone else heard similar things.

That's what happens a lot of times. These guys agree with one team and then somebody else calls and trumps the offer. That's why the Steelers don't release their official list until everyone is signed and delivered.
They got burned back in the early 2000s by a receiver they really wanted who used their offer to get a better one from the Falcons. He never amounted to anything.

Here's the official list:
Detemetrius Taylor (6-0, 273) FB, Virginia Tech, guard Dorrian Brooks (6-2, 306) of James Madison, safeties Justin Thornton (6-1, 213) of Kansas and Da'Mon Cromartie-Smith (6-2, 210) of UTEP, offensive tackle Kyle Jolly (6-6, 300) of North Carolina, defensive tackle Cordarrow Thompson (6-2, 301) of Virginia Tech and center/guard A.J. Trump (6-3, 300) of Miami.
